Putney, KY (July 09, 2015) – At approximately 6:30 p.m. Kentucky State Police Post 10 received a call about a single-vehicle collision on KY HWY 522 in the Putney community of Harlan County.
Tracy Mefford, 43, of Totz was traveling north on KY HWY 522 in a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. Evidence at the scene indicates the vehicle struck a tree and then struck a utility pole.
Mefford and his passenger, Bettina Taylor, 31, also of Wallins, both received injuries. Taylor was airlifted to Holsten Valley Medical Center from the scene. Mefford was transported by EMS to Harlan ARH.
This collision remains under investigation by Trooper Andy Soltess. At this time Mefford has been charged with operating motor vehicle under the influence and several other traffic charges.
