FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 22, 2015) – “I want to thank Governor Beshear and General Tonini for publicly responding to my call to increase security measures for the men and women of the Kentucky National Guard.
I am somewhat disappointed the executive order does not address allowing our National Guard troops the same constitutional right we provide to all Kentuckians to open carry, or to waive the conceal carry law for our guardsmen who will still have to go through the permitting process.
Despite today’s action by Governor Beshear, I still plan on filing legislation for the 2016 session that will address the situation so that our National Guard members can protect themselves against any threat of terrorism, both foreign and domestic."
