Disturbance complaint leads to an arrest with multiple charges in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Andrew Lawson along with Sgt. Brett Reeves arrested Shane Wombles age 24 Reams Ln., London early Friday morning July 24th 2015 at approximately 5:55 AM.

The arrest was the result of a complaint that deputies received that a male subject on Robert E Cox Lane was trying to start a fight with others and causing a disturbance.

When deputies arrived at the scene they observed this subject trying to make entry into an apartment there.

Deputies conducted an investigation and learned that this subject had allegedly kicked his girlfriend in the face causing injury and that neighbors there had tried to stop the assault and this subject began trying to fight with neighbors at that point.

Deputies determined that this subject was under the influence.

Deputies arrested this subject and when they did this subject became enraged and began cursing deputies, creating a disturbance there.

While in custody in the police cruiser, this subject try to break the rear cage screen out of the patrol car.

Shane Wombles was charged with assault 4th degree- domestic violence; disorderly conduct – first-degree: menacing; resisting arrest; and alcohol intoxication in a public place. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding charges of criminal mischief – third-degree; and theft by unlawful taking.

Also, Wombles was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of alcohol intoxication in a public place and a Whitley County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of giving an officer a false name or address.

Shane Wombles was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
