Prowler complaint in Laurel County leads to arrest

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Josh Scott arrested Joseph Arthur age 27 of White Oak Rd., London early Sunday morning July 26, 2015 at approximately 8:33 AM.

The arrest occurred off White Oak road, approximately 10 miles west of London after Deputy Scott was dispatched to investigate a prowler complaint.

Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Scott observed this subject run back inside a residence there upon seeing the deputy arrive at the scene.

Deputy Scott proceeded to the doorway speaking with the grandmother there and obtained permission to enter the residence.

Deputy Scott conducted an investigation learning from the grandmother that this subject had been up for days and there was no prowler there.

Following his investigation, Deputy Scott arrested Joseph Arthur charging him with falsely reporting an incident.

At the police cruiser a short scuffle occurred where this subject resisted arrest and fled on foot back inside the residence using his grandmother as a shield attempting to keep Deputy Scott from completing his arrest.

Other officers then arrived at the scene including Laurel Sheriff's Sgt. John Gaylor, London City Police Officer Eric Stallard, London Police Officer Jordan Hopkins, and this subject was taken into custody.

Joseph Arthur was charged with falsely reporting an incident; assault third-degree – police officer is victim; fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot; resisting arrest; disorderly conduct – second-degree; public intoxication – controlled substances; and menacing.

Joseph Arthur was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
