KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Lincoln County

(Stanford, KY) — The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, is investigating a fatal collision that happened just after 9:00 p.m. last night on Highway 127 in Lincoln County.

he initial investigation indicates that Billy Luster of Hustonville was driving a 2009 Nissan Murano south on US 127 just north of Jefferies lane. Luster collided with a 1997 Jeep Wrangler that was pulling a trailer, which was also traveling south on US 127, operated by George Spears. The collision pushed the Jeep across the center of the roadway, into the path of oncoming traffic, and was struck head on by a 2014 Dodge Truck and trailer, operated by Alex Poppelwell of Russell Springs.

George Spears, 41 years old of Liberty, KY was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lincoln County Coroner.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Jeff Stith. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Lincoln County EMS, Lincoln County Fire & Rescue, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lincoln County Coroner.
