Assault arrest in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Shawn Jackson arrested James Taylor age 45 of Buffalo Branch, Corbin on Friday night July 31, 2015 at approximately 10:23 P.M.

The arrest occurred off Ky 1223, approximately 12 miles south of London after Deputy Jackson was dispatched to a complaint that a male subject had allegedly assaulted his wife.

When Deputy Jackson arrived at the scene, the male suspect fled, and was reportedly extremely intoxicated.

The female victim had allegedly been assaulted and had red marks on her. In addition, the male subject allegedly shoved the female victim's 12-year-old daughter into the wall.

Deputy Jackson conducted a search in a wooded area behind the apartment complex and was able to locate the male suspect, taking him into custody.

Deputy Jackson determined that the male suspect was under the influence – the male suspect was located carrying a bottle of whiskey that was 3/4 empty and the male suspect advised he had been drinking all day.

James Taylor was charged with assault – fourth degree and alcohol intoxication in a public place and was lodged in the Laurel County detention Center.
