(LONDON, KY.) – Kentucky State Police Post 11, London has received several complaints in the past few weeks from citizens advising that there have been phone calls from someone stating that they are with the Internal Revenue Service / IRS and that they are owed money.
The callers are advising that the calls are from a 917 area code. Callers further state that if the debt is not paid, legal action will be taken against them.
The IRS does not contact anyone by phone this is obviously a phone scam. Never give anyone your personal information over the phone. If anyone receives any suspicious calls please contact the Kentucky State Police or your local law enforcement agency.
