UPDATE: Fatal Traffic Crash in Laurel County - Victims identified

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Brandon Broughton along with Sgt. Robbie Grimes are investigating a two vehicle fatal traffic crash which occurred at the intersection of KY 30 and KY 3094, approximately three miles north of London on Wednesday night August 19, 2015 at approximately 9:53 PM.

The investigating deputies report that apparently a vehicle traveling eastbound on KY 3094 pulled into the path of a vehicle that was traveling southbound on KY 30 colliding with that vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway.

The black Cadillac's driver and only occupant of the vehicle was identified as: Lillia D. Vaughn age 57 Of Hellard Road, Annville, he was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Occupants of the Geo tracker were identified as: Driver - Roger Hayre age 56 of Jim Barnard Rd., London – Injured and taken to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Passenger – Sandra Hayre age 58 of Jim Barnard Rd., London – injured and taken to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Passenger -an 11-year-old male juvenile – transported to St. Joseph Hospital in London for observation.

Agencies assisting at the scene included East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Department, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, and the Laurel County Coroner's Office.

Investigation into the cause of the crash will continue by Deputy Brandon Broughton and Capt. Chuck Johnson – accident reconstructionist for the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.
