Wanted man arrested at fight complaint after scuffle with LSO Deputies

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sgt. Robbie Grimes along with Deputy Brandon Broughton arrested Gary Shell age 34 of KY 1376 W., East Bernstadt on Thursday night August 20, 2015 at approximately 7:59 PM.

The arrest occurred off KY 1376 approximately 4 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a fight complaint at a residence there. When deputies arrived at the scene, no one would come to the door although movement was noted inside the residence.

Deputies conducted an investigation and learned that a subject inside the residence had 2 outstanding warrants for his arrest. Deputies again tried to get someone to come to the door however they were unable to.

Deputies made entry at the rear of the residence and located the male subject who was wanted on warrants and following a short scuffle with the subject were able to take the him into custody.

Gary Shell was charged on a Laurel County warrant of arrest charging assault – fourth degree – allegedly this subject got into an argument with a subject and took a baseball bat and hit the subject on the shoulder.

In addition, deputies charged this subject on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on charges of public intoxication – controlled substances.

Also deputies charged this subject with resisting arrest and lodged him in the Laurel County Detention Center.
