FREE programs offered by the Clay County Extension Office for September

The Savvy Seller & Bargain Hunter will be September 3rd at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office.  Have you thought of hosting a yard sale or selling at a consignment shop?  Come enjoy learning about the basics for success.  For fun, bring an item you would like to sell or exchange with another participant present that evening.  Call 598-2789 to register.  This program is free and open to the public.

Right On the Money, a financial program for families, will be September 14th, 21st and 28th at 6:00 pm at the EXCEL Center.  We will teach children financial concepts using children’s storybooks.  The program is presented cooperatively with Promise Neighborhood.  Call 598-2789 to register your family.  Free and open to the public.

Cooking 101 will be September 15th, 22nd, 29th and October 12th, 19th, and 26th at the Extension Office at 6:00 pm.  The family that cooks together eats together.  Come learn the basics of cooking.  You and your children/grandchildren will be preparing a wide variety of foods together.  This program is presented in cooperation with Promise Neighborhood.  You must call 598-2789 to register your family. The program is free and open to the public.

Crazy Patch-New Heirlooms will be September 29th at 10:00 am at the Extension Office.  You will learn about vintage crazy patch quilts; their attributes, common motifs and stitches used, “rules” for making a crazy quilt and how to care for these fragile vintage quilts.  We will have a hands-on workshop after the training on preparing a Traditional Crazy Quilt Block.  Hazel Jackson, Rockcastle County FCS Agent, will bring fabric and background fabric.  If you have lace, buttons, ribbons or fabric etc. that you want to include, please bring it with you.  Bring basic hand sewing supplies.  Lunch will be provided.  Please call 598-2789 to register.  Program is free and open to the public.
