KSP - Bell County Man Arrested for Trafficking



(Newtown, KY) - On 08/31/2015 shortly after 2:00 A.M., Tpr. Taylor Mills was on patrol on KY 66 in the Newtown community of Bell County. He observed a 2012 black Nissan Altima stopped in the eastbound lane of travel.

Tpr. Mills activated his blue lights and made contact with the occupant. While talking with the occupant he noticed a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the driver and that he appeared to be manifestly under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

Tpr. Mills performed field sobriety tests and placed Howard N. Wilson, age 49, of Kettle Island in custody for operating motor vehicle under the influence.

Tpr. Mills searched the vehicle and discovered a large amount of suspected Xanax and a sizeable amount of cash.

Drugs and cash were seized and Mr. Howard was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.

Tpr. Mills charged Wilson with blocking traveled portion of the highway, operating motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, failure to produce insurance card, possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle and trafficking in controlled substance 3rd degree, 1st offense.

Investigation continues by Tpr. Mills.
