DUI arrest on Hal Rogers Parkway - Laurel County, KY

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sgt. Larry Parrott arrested Charleston Burton, age 35, of Newport, KY early Thursday morning, September 10, 2015, at approximately 3:21 AM.

The arrest was the result of a traffic stop conducted by Sgt. Parrott on Hal Rogers Parkway approximately 1 mile east of London after Sgt. Parrott observed a maroon colored Chevrolet Impala traveling 16 miles over the speed limit.

During the traffic stop investigation Sgt. Parrott determined that this subject had a suspended driver's license. In addition, this subject had three outstanding bench warrants of arrest.

Also Sgt. Parrott determined that this subject was under the influence. This subject had nuerotin tablets in his possession along with a quantity of marijuana.

Charleston Burton was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; speeding 16 miles over the limit; operating on suspended or revoked operators license; possession of marijuana; possession of a controlled substance; and other traffic violations.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Pulaski County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding numerous traffic violations.

This subject was also charged on 2 Laurel County bench warrants of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding numerous traffic violations.

Charleston Burton was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. Assisting on the traffic stop was Deputy Tommy Houston and Deputy Andrew Lawson.
