Police return gunfire leaving a Rockcastle County man dead

London, KY – On Thursday, September 17, 2015, at approximately 8:19 PM Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a call about a domestic dispute between a husband and wife at a residence on Dughill Road in Rockcastle County.

Responding to the complaint was a KSP Trooper, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer and a Rockcastle County Deputy Sheriff.

Upon officer’s arrival at the residence, suspect Lawrence R. Price, 61, of Brodhead brandished a firearm and refused multiple verbal commands to drop the weapon. Price then fired a round from his weapon in the direction of the officers. Officers then returned gunfire striking the suspect.

Rockcastle County EMS was then notified and responded to the scene. Price was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Rockcastle County Coroner’s Office.

Neither Price’s spouse nor responding officers were injured during the incident.

The investigation is continuing by KSP LT. Scott Felder. He was assisted at the scene by KSP LT. Curt Hall, KSP LT. Donald Wilson, Troopers from Post 11, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office and Rockcastle County EMS.
