Domestic complaint leads to arrests in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray along with Deputy Jamie Grimes and Deputy Travis Napier arrested two individuals on Monday night, September 21, 2015, at approximately 8 PM.

The arrests occurred off of Payne Trail Rd. approximately 3 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a male and female subject fighting there. When deputies arrived at the scene they located a female juvenile at a neighbor's residence that reported that her mother and her mother's boyfriend were at their residence and were fighting and that she had left to call for help.

When deputies arrived at the residence where the alleged fight had taken place they conducted an investigation and learned that two adults there had allegedly gotten into an argument and had started fighting with each other.

During the altercation, some pictures inside the residence were broken and the male subject received a large cut on his face. For her safety, the female juvenile in the residence had ran to her neighbor's residence to call for help.

Deputies determined that both adults in the residence were extremely intoxicated.  Arrested was Angela Messer, age 37 of Payne Trail Rd., London.  She was charged with assault – fourth degree – domestic violence and alcohol intoxication. In addition, this subject was charged with wanton endangerment – second-degree regarding her nine-year-old daughter being present in the residence during the altercation and both subjects being extremely intoxicated.

Also arrested was Tommy Smith, age 47, of Payne Trail Rd., London.  He was charged with assault – fourth degree – domestic violence and alcohol intoxication .

The female victim at the residence advised that she had been pushed and deputies noted a red area on her face.  Both adults were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries and then lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
