Laurel County homeowner catches burglars in the act

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Charlie Johnson arrested two individuals on Saturday morning, October 3, 2015, at approximately 10:30 AM.  The arrests occurred off of Slate Lick Church Road, approximately 4 miles north of London after Deputy Johnson was dispatched to a complaint of a burglary at a residence there.

When Deputy Johnson arrived at the scene, he learned that the owner of the residence had apparently driven by and observed a vehicle parked at a home he owned there.  The homeowner found a male subject standing in the front door and a female subject inside the residence and held them there until Deputy Johnson arrived at the scene.

Deputy Johnson conducted an investigation and found that the house had allegedly been ransacked.  Entry had apparently been gained by forcing a window open.  Some property from the residence was found in the suspect's vehicle.

Deputy Johnson arrested Emanuel Bowling, age 63, of Hawk Creek Rd., London, charged with burglary – second degree.  Also arrested was Teresa Smith, age 42, of Kentucky Hollow Rd., London, charged with burglary – second-degree.
