Burglary arrests in Laurel County



Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Rick Cloyd arrested two individuals off South Stewart Rd., approximately 10 miles south of London on Friday afternoon October 16, 2015 at approximately 4:10 P.M.

The arrests occurred after Deputy Cloyd was dispatched to a burglary where apparently a neighbor on Chase Lane, 11 miles south of London, observed a male and female subject enter a residence and remove property.The vehicle - a red Ford Explorer left the scene headed toward Corbin.

Deputy Cloyd observed the suspect vehicle turning into a service station off South Stewart Rd. and conducted a traffic stop. An investigation was conducted and Deputy Cloyd learned that the license plate decal on the vehicle had been reported stolen to Corbin Police Department on October 12, 2015. The decal belonged on a BMW. Property in the vehicle taken from the residence on Chase Lane was recovered.

The red Ford Explorer was impounded. The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested and were identified as:

The driver Kelly Colter age 32 of Holly Grove Rd., Corbin charged with burglary – second degree; theft of motor vehicle registration plate; operating on suspended or revoked operators license and other traffic violations.

A passenger Randall Carnes age 30, Of Greene St., London charged with burglary – second degree and theft of motor vehicle registration plate.--

These individuals stated they used to live in the residence on Chase Lane and the property was theirs.

Both subjects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
