KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Madison County

(Richmond, KY) — The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, responded to a single vehicle collision on Meadowbrook Road in Madison County, just before 1:00 P.M. Monday, after receiving a call that a truck collided with a utility pole.

The initial investigation indicates that a 1994 Chevy truck was traveling north on Meadowbrook Road, when it dropped off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.

One of the occupants, Candie J. Johnson, 22 years old of Richmond, was trapped inside and had to be extricated from the vehicle, before being airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital with serious injuries.

A second occupant, Daniel K. Howell, 56 years old of Nicholasville, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County Coroner. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Albert LaGrange.

He was assisted at the scene by KSP personnel, Madison County EMS, Madison County Fire & Rescue, Waco Volunteer Fire Department, Blue Grass Army Depot Fire Department, Richmond Fire Department, and the Madison County Coroner.
