Police make three drug related arrests in Clay County

Clay County, KY - MPD is reporting that on Friday, October 30, 2015 Manchester Police Officers responded to a residence on Owens Road to investigate a complaint of two male subjects that would not leave and was threatening to do harm to the caller, Michael Hatfield.

When Officer Jeff Couch arrived he observed two male subjects at the residence sitting at a table counting pills. While investigating, Officer Couch located a glass smoking pipe used for smoking crack, and other paraphernalia on one of the subjects.

Probation and Parole was contacted by officers due to Jeff Pennington and Michael Hatfield being on probation.  When Probation and Parole Officers arrived on scene and performed a drug test on the two, both subjects tested positive for illegal drugs.

Arrested was:

Jeff Pennington of Manchester - Charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree-1st offense.

Dewey Owens of London - Charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree-1st offense and two outstanding warrants from Laurel county.

Michael Hatfield of Manchester Charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, and Falsely Reporting an Incident.

Assisting Officer Couch at the scene was Assistant Police Chief Patrick Robinson and Chief Chris Fultz.

All three were lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
