Pedestrian seriously injured in hit and run crash - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Brandon Broughton along with Capt. Chuck Johnson and Sgt. Robbie Grimes are investigating a hit and run vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash which occurred on KY 552, approximately 7 miles south of London near the landfill which occurred on Thursday afternoon, December 17, 2015, at approximately 3:15 PM.


The investigating deputies report that apparently, a pedestrian identified as Willie Hubbard, age 26, of Line Creek Rd., Lily, was walking on or near the roadway when a vehicle struck him knocking him into the ditch there.

The victim received serious injuries and was treated at the scene by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and airlifted by PHI helicopter to Lexington for treatment.  Lily Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene. Debris from the vehicle involved was found at the scene to assist investigating deputies.
