Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Detective Kevin Berry is conducting an investigation into a double shooting which resulted in 2 fatalities off Natures Bend Road, approximately 9 miles east of London on Saturday night December 19, 2015 at approximately 9:28 PM.
Apparently, a boyfriend and his girlfriend and their three-year-old daughter were visiting at the boyfriend's father's residence when an argument occurred between the boyfriend and girlfriend and the boyfriend allegedly shot his girlfriend multiple times with a pistol causing fatal injuries. Then the boyfriend fired shots at his father and also in the vicinity of his three-year-old daughter and his father's wife.
The boyfriend's father apparently fired a shotgun at his son in self-defense causing fatal injuries to his son.
The girlfriend was identified as: Ashley Beckner age 26 – fatal injuries from gunshot wounds.
The boyfriend was identified as: Michael Allen age 29 – fatal injuries from a shotgun.
Michael Allen's father is identified as: Charles Allen age unknown currently.
The investigation is continuing.
A presentation will be made before the next term of the Laurel County grand jury with information concerning the investigation conducted by Detective Kevin Berry.
Assisting at the scene was Capt. Chuck Johnson, Sgt. Larry Parrott, Deputy Tommy Houston, Deputy Shawn Jackson, and Deputy Andrew Lawson. Also assisting was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, EMS, and Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.
