Endangering the Welfare of a Minor arrests in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Shawn Boroviak and Deputy Josh Scott arrested three individuals early Saturday morning December 19, 2015 at approximately 6:50 AM.

The arrests occurred off Old Richmond Road approximately 2 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a domestic dispute there.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, they found a male victim with visible injuries to his back and face. In addition, a four-year-old male child was located in the residence laying in a bed soaked with urine.

Also deputies learned that there was only one small space heater inside the residence with not enough heat to heat the room or the residence, no running water, and no food. Temperature inside the room was approximately 35° – Cold enough that deputies could see their breath inside the residence.

Arrested was:

The mother, Hallie Simpson age 30 of Old Richmond Rd., London charged with assault – fourth degree – domestic violence; and endangering the welfare of a minor. – Her child advised he had not ate since Friday. Social services was notified and the child was removed from the home.

The grandmother, Charolett Simpson age 66 of Reams Lane, London charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.

Hallie Simpson's boyfriend, Jonathan Gross age 34 of Hwy 150 East Apartments, Crab Orchard,Ky – charged with endangering the welfare of a minor; menacing; and disorderly conduct – second-degree – this subject became aggressive with social workers who had been called to the scene and attempted to cause alarm and intimidation by his actions while social workers were attempting to conduct their investigation.

All three subjects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
