KSP Officer Involved In Accident - Corbin

(Corbin, KY) - On Wednesday, January 6th, 2015, at around 3 P.M., Officer Wendell Hunter with KSP-Vehicle Enforcement was patrolling on KY 3041 in Corbin, Kentucky, when he attempted to turn on a speeding vehicle near the entrance of Phillips Tree Service on the Corbin by-pass.

Officer Hunter was westbound on KY 3041 when he clocked an eastbound speeding vehicle. Officer Hunter slowed down on the shoulder of the road and attempted a turn when he collided with a 2001 Honda Odyssey van being operated by Amanda Smith-Ball, 27, of Annville, Kentucky.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene. Officer Hunter and Ball were transported to Baptist Health in Corbin where they were treated and released with minor injuries.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors and all parties were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.

Assisting on the scene: Vehicle Enforcement Officers, Kentucky State Police, Corbin Police, and Corbin Fire Department. Sgt. Travis Rogers continues the investigation.
