Harlan County, KY - Harlan County Schools Superintendent Mike Howard issued the following statement Friday morning December 8, 2015:
"First and foremost our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased. We are thankful the injuries appear to be minor to our driver, bus monitor and student who were on the bus at the time of the accident.
They were taken to Harlan ARH Hospital following the accident.
All questions concerning the accident should be directed to the Kentucky State Police.
Our transportation department officials, safe schools director and other key personnel are at the scene assisting the investigators as requested.
Crisis counselors were dispatched to Cumberland Elementary School where the accident victim’s children attend school."
