(LONDON, KY.) – On Thursday, January 21, 2016 at approximately 11:30 AM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a fatal two-vehicle collision on KY HWY 92 in Whitley County.
Upon arrival, Trooper David Lassiter determined that a 2012 Freightliner salt truck operated by Tommy Manes, 63, of Siler, KY was traveling westbound on KY 92 when he crossed the center-line and struck a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero head-on, which was traveling eastbound operated by Billy R. Stevens, 59, of Williamsburg, KY.
Stevens, who was not wearing a seatbelt was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office. His two passengers Jesse E. Gabbard, 29, and Selena M. Moore, 28, both of Williamsburg, KY was transported to the Baptist Health Corbin Hospital where they are receiving treatment for their injuries.
Manes, was not injured during the collision.
Trooper Lassiter is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers, Whitley County Coroner’s Office, Whitley County EMS and the Williamsburg Fire Department.
