(Louisville, Ky.) - On January 26, 2016, at approximately 11:48 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by KSP Post 4-Elizabethtown, arrested Sean E. Elston, 47, on charges related to possession and distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.
Elston was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online.
The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Elston's residence on January 26, 2016. Prior to state police entering the residence, Elston set fire to clothing and electronic equipment in an attempt to destroy potential evidence. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was recovered and taken to KSP's forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.
Elston is currently charged with tampering with physical evidence, 20 counts of possession and nine counts of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. Each charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison.
Elston was lodged at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
