Laurel County man jailed for DUI, Assault and numerous other charges


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray along with Deputy Jamie Grimes and Deputy Brandon Broughton arrested Ricky Peters age 26 of Highway 1394, East Bernstadt on Monday afternoon January 25, 2016 at approximately 4:53 PM.

The arrest occurred after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that this subject was fighting with his grandmother.

When deputies arrived at the scene this subject had already left the residence in his grandmother's vehicle, a beige colored Ford Taurus.

Deputies conducted an investigation and learned that this subject had struck his grandmother in the face leaving red marks on her.

Deputies located this subject at a neighbor's residence where this subject was in the driver seat of the vehicle stuck on snow bank trying to back out of the residence driveway.

Deputies conducted an investigation determining that this subject was under the influence – this subject admitted smoking marijuana and taking several pills.

Ricky Peters was charged with assault – fourth degree – domestic violence; operating a motor vehicle under the influence first offense; operating on suspended or revoked operators license; failure to surrender revoked operators license; failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance – first offense; and numerous other traffic violations and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
