Join us on February 4th at 6:00 pm for Cooking for 1 or 2 at the Clay County Extension Office. You will enjoy a sample of different foods prepared in a cup. You must call 598-2789 to register so we will have enough food prepared. Free and open to the public.
►Skeletons in the Closet will be on February 11th at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office. Do we have a reason we keep all our stuff? Do we have clothes in our closets that haven’t been worn in forever? Come learn why we may be keeping all our stuff that no longer fits or works. You must call 598-2789 to register. This program is free and open to the public.
►March Homemaker Leader’s Training will be Baking the Basics on February 16th at 10:00 am at the Extension Office. After the training you will have the opportunity to take home a product to bake. Clare Kincaid, Jackson County Extension Agent, will be teaching the program for us. This program is free and open to the public but you must call 598-2789 to register.
►Our Diabetic Support Group will meet on February 18th at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office. We will be talking about Soups and how they can fit into our diet. Please call 598-2789 to register. Free and open to all diabetics and their family.
►Crazy Quilt Square will be held February 22nd and March 1st at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office. Come learn how to make a Crazy Quilt Square that can be used for a pillow or a start for a table runner or quilt. You will be able to use up your scraps of fabric and learn embroidery stitches. Bring basic hand sewing supplies and material. This program is free and open to the public. Please call 598-2789 to register.
►There will be a Tobacco and Vegetable Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Training at the Laurel County Extension Office on Thursday, February 25th at 6:00 pm. This will satisfy the requirement for tobacco producers to be certified in GAP for the 2016 growing season. Vegetable GAP will be available for those producers that have not been certified. ►Taking Control of Your Diabetes will be February 29th, March 7 and March 14th at the Extension Office at 6:00 pm. Have you recently been diagnosed with diabetes and want to receive diabetes recipes? Are you wondering what carbohydrates are and why you need to monitor them? Do you have a family member that needs help? Taking Control of Your Diabetes will provide you with information to help you understand and control your diabetes. This program is a repeat of the program we offered last year. FREE & open to the public! You must call the office at 598-2789 to register.
►There will be a Grafting and Pruning Demonstration on March 3rd. The first Grafting Demo will be at 10:00 am and the 2nd will be at 6:00 pm. Both will be held at the Laurel County Extension Office. The Pruning Demo will be held at a farm so you need to be ready to leave from the Laurel County Extension Office at 1:00 pm. ►Chris Smigell, UK Horticulture Specialist, will be doing a Tree and Small Fruit Pruning demonstration in Clay County on March 10th starting at 1:30 pm. The location has not been determined as yet. FREE & open to the public! Call to register at 598-2789.
