Police find meth on alleged fleeing shoplifter after he slips on ice in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy John Inman arrested Adam Chris Roark, age 31, of Joel Lane, London, on Friday morning, January 29, 2016, at approximately 11:14 AM.

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject. When Deputy Inman arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, he learned that this subject had allegedly been observed concealing merchandise and attempting to leave the store without paying for the items and that this subject had attempted to flee, but lost his footing and fell due to ice nearby.

This subject was determined to be under the influence. Adam Chris Roark was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and public intoxication – controlled substances.

After this subject was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center, jail officials discovered this subject in possession of a quarterbag of methamphetamine.

Adam Roark was also charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine and promoting contraband – first-degree. This subject is lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. Photo attached is courtesy of the Laurel County Detention Center.
