Theft by Unlawful Taking and other charges in Laurel County


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy John Inman arrested Vernon Jackson Jr. age 43 of Robert E. Cox Rd., Corbin early Friday morning February 5, 2016 at approximately 8:25 AM.

The arrest occurred at Pilot Fuel Station off West Cumberland Gap Pkwy., 11 miles south of London after Deputy Inman was dispatched to a complaint that this subject appeared to be under the influence and was shoplifting there.

When Deputy Inman arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he determined that this subject was under the influence. In addition, Deputy Inman found a power inverter in this subject's possession that had been stolen from inside Pilot Oil.

Also, this subject was found to be in possession of Suboxone strips, Neurontin, Clonazepam, Rebetol and Marijuana.

Upon arrest, this subject failed to follow verbal commands but was taken into custody.

Vernon Jackson Jr. was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting; public intoxication – controlled substances; criminal mischief – second degree; resisting arrest; possession of marijuana; two counts of possession of a controlled substance; and prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense.

This subject was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
