(LONDON, KY.) – Kentucky State Police Post 11, London has received several complaints in the past few weeks from citizens advising that there have been phone calls from someone stating that they are with the Internal Revenue Service / IRS and that they are owed money.
The caller is advising them that if the debt is not paid, legal action will be taken against them. The IRS does not contact anyone by phone. Never give anyone your personal information over the phone unless you know who you’re talking to.
KSP has also received complaints about another scam going around about citizens receiving calls from someone stating that a family member has been arrested and they need to send money to get them out of jail.
If anyone receives any suspicious calls, please contact the Kentucky State Police or your local law enforcement agency.
