Accused shoplifter facing a multitude of charges - Laurel County



Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sgt. Robbie Grimes arrested a Laurel County man on Tuesday evening, February 9, 2016, at approximately 6:36 PM.

Arrested was James Felts, age 28, of Keavy Craigs Creek Road, London, KY.  

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject. When Sgt. Grimes arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, he learned that this subject had allegedly been observed attempting to unlawfully remove $43 worth of items from the store without paying for the items.

In addition, this subject was in possession of two Kentucky EBT cards not assigned to him. James Felts was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting; and knowingly fraudulently using ID card or electronic code for benefits.

Also, this subject was charged on a Laurel County warrant of arrest charging harassment. This subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of public intoxication in a public place.

The subject was also charged on another Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of assault – fourth degree-domestic violence.

This subject was charged on a Knox County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of careless driving.
