Business employee accused of theft in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Detective Kevin Berry arrested Roy Branham, Jr., age 24, of Maple Ln., Apartments, Corbin, on Tuesday night, February 23, 2016, at approximately 9:41 PM.

The arrest occurred on US 25 approximately 13 miles south of London after Sheriff's deputies conducted an investigation regarding a theft that had occurred at a business located on US 25 in southern Laurel County. Allegedly, this subject had been an employee who had used their business credit cards to purchase prepaid gift cards for the business, but had been keeping some of the cards for himself. The business reported a total loss of approximately $43,000.  Investigation has determined that approximately $37,000 of that total was spent at a local retail store in southern Laurel County.

Roy Branham, Jr. was charged with theft by unlawful taking – $10,000 or more. Assisting on the investigation and arrests were: Laurel Sheriff's Office Shift Sgt. Robbie Grimes, Deputy Jamie Grimes, Deputy Kyle Gray, and Deputy Brandon Broughton.
