Clay County resident dead after constable involved shooting in Laurel County


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Detective Kevin Berry and Detective Jason Back are investigating a constable involved shooting that left one man dead.

The incident occurred at EB Quick Stop at the junction of Old Richmond Road (KY 3434) and KY 3094 on Friday night March 4, 2016 at approximately 9:00 PM.

Constable Bobby Joe Smith was attempting to serve a warrant on an individual at that location.

The deceased individual is identified as Brandon Stanley age 30 of Manchester, KY. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.

An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday morning in Frankfort.

Detective Kevin Berry and Detective Jason Back will be continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, processing evidence, and interviewing witnesses and a presentation will be made before the next term of the Laurel County grand jury.

Sheriff John Root, Capt. Chuck Johnson, Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, Commonwealth attorney Jackie Steele, and Constable Chris Webb.
