DUI arrest at crash on Clear Springs Drive - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray arrested a male subject of Mountain Springs Dr., London, on Sunday night, March 6, 2016, at approximately 9:18 PM.

Arrested was Harold Jones, age 51.  The arrest occurred on Clear Springs Drive, approximately 4 miles south of London after Deputy Gray was dispatched to investigate a traffic crash there.

When Deputy Gray arrived at the scene, he observed this subject sitting in his black colored Honda Accord in a ditch between two residential yards. Deputy Gray conducted an investigation and learned that apparently this subject's vehicle had ran off the roadway traveling through a wooden fence, traveled back on the roadway striking 2 mailboxes, and then traveled through a yard barely missing two other vehicles and traveling into a ditch and coming to rest on another property after hitting a chain-link fence.

Deputy Gray conducted an investigation on the driver after detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver, and determined that the driver was under the influence.

Harold Jones was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; careless driving; possession of open alcoholic beverages container in motor vehicle prohibited; and failure to wear seatbelts. The driver stated that he had been drinking some alcohol in the parking lot of a church there after church services had ended.

Harold Jones was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
