Man Arrested After Attempting to Evade Deputy In Artemus Community


Knox County, KY - On March 9, 2016, at approximately 4:25 am Deputy Mikey Ashurst responded to a complaint of a suspicious person on Green Street in Artemus.

After Deputy Ashurst checked Green Street and could not locate the suspicious person, he began a neighborhood canvass. While on Pea Ridge Road, Deputy Ashurst observed a man running through the back yard of a residence.

Deputy Ashurst exited his patrol vehicle and chased after the individual. After a brief foot pursuit, Deputy Ashurst caught up with the suspect. The suspect refused to comply with verbal commands and began to actively fight Deputy Ashurst.

After a brief struggle, Deputy Ashurst was able to handcuff and arrest the man. The man was identified as Harvey D. Cain, age 31, of Artemus, KY.

He was charged with Public Intoxication, Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct. Harvey Cain was also wanted on a Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to pay fines on Speeding, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Failure to Wear Seat Belts.
