Shoplifting - Female subject allegedly involved & fleeing on foot nabbed by LSO

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Brandon Broughton arrested two individuals on Thursday night March 10, 2016 at approximately 6:28 P.M.

The arrests occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team allegedly observed 2 individuals shoplifting in the store.

A female subject that was allegedly involved attempted to flee on foot through the parking lot, however Deputy Broughton was nearby and observed her running through the parking lot and detained her without incident.

Deputy Broughton determined that she was under the influence. When Deputy Broughton conducted an investigation he learned that these two individuals had allegedly been observed concealing merchandise by removing them from packages and concealing the items – value of the theft was over $194.

While Deputy Broughton was interviewing the male subject involved in the theft, the male subject threw a small baggie containing a white powder substance on the ground. The male subject stated he had taken Suboxone minutes before Deputy Broughton arrived at the scene.

The individuals arrested were:

  • Allison Nicholson age 31 of Jim's Lane, Corbin -- Charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and public intoxication – controlled substances.
  • Glennis Anderson age 44 also of Jim's Lane, Corbin -- Charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting; public intoxication - controlled substances; and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, this subject was charged on a Whitley County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense. In addition, this subject was charged on a Knox County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of public intoxication – controlled substances.
  • These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
