Shooting Call in Russellville Ends in Officer Involved Shooting with One Dead and Two Injured

(Russellville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to a report of a shooting at the McDonalds in the limits of Russellville on North Main Street where a male had shot a female and left the scene on foot and encountered Officers with the Russellville Police Department which ended in an Officer involved shooting.

The preliminary investigation shows that Joseph Harris (34) of Lewisburg pulled into the McDonalds parking lot and exited his vehicle and shot his former girlfriend, Amanda Harper (28) of Russellville, who was waiting in the drive-through line in her vehicle. Harris then fled the scene on foot. Harper exited the parking lot in her vehicle and pulled across North Main Street where she then exited the roadway and struck a building. She was transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green by Logan County EMS where she is being treated for a single gunshot wound to the upper body and is listed in stable condition.

Harris walked north on North Main Street where he encountered responding Russellville Police Department Sergeant Morris Kisselbaugh and Officers Stephen Meredith and Seth Whittaker. Upon being challenged by police, Harris brandished a firearm towards the officers. At this point, all three officers fired at Harris and he was struck approx. three times. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene by the Logan County Coroner's Office and an autopsy will be performed next date at the Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville.

Vanna Krang (48) of Russellville was inside the Russellville Donut shop across from where Harris was shot. Krang was struck once in the neck by gunfire. He was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where he is listed in stable condition.

No Russellville Police Officers were injured during the incident.

The investigation is still ongoing and being conducted by Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green. No further details are available for release at this time.

(Russellville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green is currently on scene of a shooting at the McDonalds in the limits of Russellville on North Main Street where a male had shot a female and left the scene on foot and encountered Officers with the Russellville Police Department which ended in an Officer involved shooting.

The preliminary investigation shows that a male had shot a female and then left the scene on foot. The female pulled across the street where she was treated and then transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green for her injuries.

The male walked north on North Main Street where he encountered responding Russellville Police Department Officers which resulted in the male being shot and killed near the Super Wash near the intersection of Armory Drive.

A male subject that was inside the Russellville Donut Shop across from the Super Wash was struck by gunfire and was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.

No Russellville Police Officers were injured during the incident. No other details are available for release at this time.
