Speeding VW passes police cruiser and three other vehicles in no passing zone - Laurel County


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sgt. Brett Reeves along with Deputy Rick Cloyd, Sgt. Robbie Grimes, and Deputy Brandon Broughton arrested a female subject of Baker Ridge Rd., London, on Thursday afternoon, March 17, 2016, at approximately 3:19 PM.

Arrested was Kimberly Wilder, age 50.  The arrest occurred off KY 312, approximately 8 miles south of London after this subject who was driving a silver colored Volkswagen Passat came up from behind a fully marked deputy sheriff's cruiser driven by Sgt. Brett Reeves.

This subject was driving at a high rate of speed and passed the fully marked deputy sheriff's patrol car along with three other vehicles in a no passing zone on Hillcrest. Sgt. Reeves conducted a traffic stop and this subject refused to exit the vehicle and had to be physically removed from the vehicle.

An investigation was conducted and it was determined that this subject was driving on DUI suspended license and had numerous outstanding warrants of arrest.

Kimberly Wilder was charged with reckless driving; improper passing; driving on DUI suspended license – third offense; resisting arrest ; failure to wear seatbelts; and failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense. In addition, this subject was wanted on an outstanding Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on charges of public intoxication – controlled substances.

Also, this subject was charged on another Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding charges of disorderly conduct – second-degree; alcohol intoxication in a public place and resisting arrest. Additionally, this subject was charged on a Harlan County Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding charges of trafficking in a controlled substance – second-degree – first offense and persistent felony offender I.
