Report of passed out driver results in arrest - Whitley County


Whitley County, KY - Around 9:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2016, Deputy Joe Prewitt responded to a call along Mt. Ash Road.  According to the caller, inside a vehicle that was still running and on the roadway was a man believed to be passed out.

Dep. Prewitt arrived and woke up the man, 41-year-old Everett L. Young. While searching Young, Dep. Prewitt located a pill bottle in a pocket containing assorted pills, including six believed to be Xanax.

Inside the vehicle’s passenger compartment was a bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, rolling papers, and a pipe with residue on it.

Also located in the vehicle was a bag containing cigars and a cigarette package. Inside the package were more pills.

Young was arrested and is charged with two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a legend drug, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dep. Prewitt was assisted by Sergeant Kirk Mays
