Body recovery - Death investigation in Whitley County

Whitley County, KY - The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department confirms that a body located by searchers is believed to be that of a 48-year-old man who was reported missing from the Brush Arbor community of Whitley County on Monday, March 7, 2016.

The body was located around 11:24 A.M. Saturday, March 26, 2016 and is believed to be that of Joel S. Moses.

Members of the Woodbine Fire Department began searching the area around 10:30 A.M. and located the body among debris in the Clearfork River. It was found approximately one mile away from where a truck belonging to Moses was left unattended.

On March 7, 2016, deputies and emergency personnel began searching for Moses, and a Golden Alert was issued. Deputy Joe Prewitt and Sheriff Colan Harrell responded to the scene and will continue the death investigation.

Coroner Andy Croley will arrange for an autopsy of the body by the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Kentucky Regional Emergency Management Director Jerry Rains and Whitley Co. Emergency Management Director Danny Moses assisted throughout the search and recovery efforts.
