Complaint of man allegedly trying to eat landscaping mulch at Laurel County motel


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray along with Deputy Jamie Grimes arrested a male subject of Harmons Lick Road, Paint Lick, KY, on Tuesday night, April 12, 2016, at approximately 7:20 PM.

Arrested was Johnny Wayne Hurt, age 38.  The arrest occurred at a motel off Highway 770, approximately 10 miles south of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of an intoxicated male creating a disturbance and allegedly trying to eat the mulch from landscaping there.

When deputies arrived and conducted an investigation, they found the subject in a room that was destroyed, dresser drawers on the floor, bed mattresses off the bed and against the wall and they found this subject manifestly under the influence of a controlled substance.

Johnny Wayne Hurt was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; disorderly conduct – second degree; and criminal mischief – third-degree.

In addition, the subject was charged on a Lincoln County bench warrant of arrest for failure to report for court ordered monitoring, failure to report for random drug screening regarding a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
