Pursuit in Bell County

(Pineville, Ky.) – On April 14, 2016, at 2:55 p.m., Kentucky State Police Trooper Brandon Burton attempted to make a traffic stop for violations on a white, Chevrolet Cobalt on U.S.25E in Middlesboro. 

The operator of the vehicle, Roger Ramey, 51, of Pineville failed to stop. Troopers from Post 10 Harlan pursued Mr. Ramey through Middlesboro and continued southbound on 25E toward Pineville.

Mr. Ramey was passing vehicles on the shoulder of U.S.25E at a high rate of speed. Mr. Ramey turned off U.S.25E onto Harbell Road and travelled a short distance before wrecking his vehicle into a ditch.

Mr. Ramey then started resisting troopers before they could place him in custody. Mr. Ramey was taken to Pineville Hospital for injuries and a blood test. Mr. Ramey was charged with the following charges:

1. Fleeing Evading 1st degree

2. Reckless driving

3. Speeding

4. DUI 2nd degree

5. No registration plates

6. No insurance

7. Operating on suspended license

8. Resisting arrest

9. No review mirror

The Passenger in the vehicle, Frank Coff, 53, of Pineville, was arrested and charged with Alcohol Intoxication.

The case is still under investigation by Tpr. Brandon Burton. Also assisted were Tpr. Joey Brigmon, and Tpr. George Howard.
