Two Killed In Queen Anne’s County, Maryland Plane Crash

(Stevensville, MD) – Two people who were pronounced deceased at the scene of a plane crash Tuesday afternoon near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge have been identified.

The deceased are identified as Richard Hess, 63, of Ellicott City, MD., and his friend, Janet Metz, 56, of Ellicott City, MD. Hess was the pilot and Metz was the passenger. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene of the plane crash.

The crash occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in an open field near the Ellendale Manor community in Stevensville before bursting in to flames. Federal authorities at the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will be handling the investigation.

The Maryland State Police will not speculate on the cause of the crash. The cause of the crash will be investigated and determined by federal authorities.
