Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sgt. Larry Parrott along with Deputy Shannon Jones and Deputy Keith Dinsmore arrested a male subject of North Mill St., London, early Friday morning, April 22, 2016, at approximately 12:56 AM.
Arrested was William Malicoat, age 34. The arrest occurred off Sublimity School Spur Road, approximately 1 mile south of London after deputies were dispatched to investigate a traffic crash involving a silver colored Toyota Camry that had wrecked in the front yard of a residence on Sublimity School Road doing a great deal of damage to the property there.
The vehicle then fled the scene traveling down Sublimity Spur Road where the driver ditched the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies arrived at the scene and found the driver walking in a yard near where he had wrecked.
The driver told deputies that he had lost control of his vehicle due to bad tires, then that he had got scared and fled the scene after the collision. Deputies conducted an investigation on the driver determining that he was under the influence. – The driver admitted to taking Suboxone and smoking methamphetamine. Deputies found the driver in possession of three small bags containing suspected methamphetamine.
William Malicoat was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence -fourth offense; driving on DUI suspended license – third offense; leaving the scene of an accident; possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine and numerous other traffic violations.
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence and driving on DUI suspended license.
Also, this subject was charged on a Perry County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence – second offense.
