KSP Investigates Shooting in Madison County


(Richmond, KY) — The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post responded to an injury shooting Sunday morning on Waco Loop Road in Madison County, after receiving a call that someone had been shot outside a residence.

The call was received just after 7:00 am, and KSP was notified that an argument between two men evolved into a shooting, that left one person injured with a gunshot wound. The victim, Anthony Thacker, 32 years old of Beattyville, was transported by Madison County EMS to the UK Medical Center for treatment.

The alleged shooter, William C. Arvin, 29 years old of Berea, left the scene and was found at an apartment on Keystone Drive at approximately 9:25 am. As a result of the initial investigation, William Arvin was arrested Sunday afternoon and is charged with Assault 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon. He is lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

KSP also arrested Bryan C. Moore, 29 years old of Beattyville Sunday morning (pictured left). He is lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence. The investigation alleges that Moore moved a firearm belonging to the victim, and hid it inside a truck located at the scene.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Detective Tye Chavies. He was assisted by KSP Personnel, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond PD, Berea PD, and Madison County EMS.
