Drug Arrest and Investigation / Rockcastle County


(LONDON, KY.) - On Thursday, May 19, 2016 at approximately 1:45 AM, Trooper James Royal stopped a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado for a minor traffic violation on KY HWY 461 in the Mount Vernon Community of Rockcastle County.

After a roadside interview was conducted, Trooper Royal noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the passenger side of the vehicle.During a search of the vehicle, a back-pack was located in the passenger side floor along with several plastic baggies. The baggies contained suspected marijuana, suspected synthetic marijuana, Methamphetamine and scales. Also discovered was US currency along with drug paraphernalia.

The passenger, Jacob M. Mink, 20, of Mount Vernon was arrested at the scene and charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Trafficking in Synthetic Drugs 1st Offense, Trafficking in Marijuana ( Less Than 8 oz 1st Offense ) and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense ( Methamphetamine ). He was lodged in the Rockcastle County Detention Center.

Trooper Royal is continuing the investigation.
