London, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Detective James Sizemore along with Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird, and the London Office of the DEA arrested a London man early Sunday morning May 22, 2016 at approximately 2:48 AM.
Update: The total weight of the seized crystal meth is revised to just over 1 pound of crystal meth seized---total value of the drug approx $50,000.
Arrested was Dustin Higginbotham age 32 of Chippewa Lane, London, KY.
The arrest occurred after Laurel Sheriff's Detective James Sizemore was contacted by Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird concerning information developed that there was a large amount of crystal meth at a residence on Chippewa Lane in London.
The Laurel County Sheriff's Office obtained a search warrant for the residence and it was executed there. Investigators found approximately a half pound of Crystal Meth and over $100,000 in U.S. currency. Dustin Higginbotham's eight-year-old son was asleep in the room where the drugs were discovered.
Dustin Higginbotham was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – methamphetamine and wanton endangerment – first-degree.
At the time of his arrest-Dustin Higginbotham was under house arrest for drug possession. The eight-year-old child was released to Higginbotham's parents.
Also assisting on the investigation and arrest was: Deputy Shawn Jackson, Deputy Shannon Jones, Deputy Tommy Houston, and CSO Brandon McCoy.
Dustin Higginbotham was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
