KNOX COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE


Flat Lick, KY - On June 13, 2016 at 1:20 pm Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith and Deputy Andrew Lawson responded to a report of an intoxicated man with a gun at the Flat Lick Post Office.

When Sheriff Smith and Deputy Lawson arrived, they observed a man walking on the side of roadway near the post office.

Deputy Lawson determined the man was under the influence and arrested him for Public Intoxication. During the arrest Deputy Lawson also found prescription medication in an unmarked pill container.

David Miller who was wearing a hand gun on his side in plain view at the time of his arrest, was not charged with any firearms violations. The hand gun was released to a family member.

Deputy Lawson arrested David V. Miller age 50 of Flat Lick, KY charging him with Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance and Prescription Controlled Substance not in Original Container. David Miller was also wanted on a Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to pay fines on Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence.

He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
