Fatal Shooting Investigation in Knox County


GRAY, Ky. (June 18, 2016)On June 18, 2016 at 12:45 a.m., Kentucky State Police Post 10 in Harlan received a call from the Knox County 911 Dispatch Center requesting assistance on a shooting investigation. Their deputy had arrived on scene and discovered the shooting victim lying in the middle of the road.

Troopers Wayne Hensley, Jon Corey and Frank Russell and KSP Sgt. Danny Caudill were dispatched to Right Fork-East Creek Road in the Gray community. Upon arrival, the male subject was lying in the roadway and Knox County EMS personnel where treating the victim.  The victim was transported to the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, where he was pronounced deceased.

KSP Investigative Sgt. Jason Joseph along with KSP Detectives Jacob Wilson, Joshua Cox, Joshua Howard, and Kevin Miller were dispatched to continue the investigation.

The body will be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office by Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley where an autopsy will be performed.

KSP Post 10 units were assisted in their investigation by KSP Post 11-London Units, Sgt. Leslie Moses, Tpr. James Creekmore, Tpr. Matt Ridener and Tpr. Christopher Saunders. Also assisting were KSP Canine units Tfc. Dallas Eubanks and Tfc. Jason McCowan.

The investigation continues by Det. Joshua Cox.
