Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Josh Scott along with Deputy John Inman,and Deputy Craig Sutton assisted by Cpl. Jack Caudill ,and CSO Brad Mink arrested Felcia Gaines age 24 of Slate Lick Street, London on Wednesday morning June 15, 2016 at approximately 10:42 AM.
The arrest occurred off Slate Lick Street 2/10 of a mile east of London after deputies located a small child walking alone on Slate Lick Street. The five-year-old girl told deputies she was walking to her uncle's house.
Deputies conducted an investigation and learned from the child where her residence was. Deputies found the child's mother asleep. Deputies noted that she had slurred speech and appeared to be under the influence – this subject stated she had smoked meth four days ago.
Felcia Gaines was charged with wanton endangerment – first-degree and endangering the welfare of a minor and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Social services was notified, and placed the child with a relative .
